Charles Lea Center is proud to announce that two of its leaders will be featured presenters at Tech Wave 2026 – Riding the Crest of Innovation, a free, statewide virtual conference highlighting the latest advancements in assistive technology, person-centered practices, and innovative supports for people with disabilities.

Hosted by the South Carolina Assistive Technology Program and the South Carolina Human Services Providers Association, Tech Wave 2026 will bring together professionals, self-advocates, providers, and industry experts for a full day of learning and collaboration on Tuesday, August 18, from 9am - 4pm (EST).

Charles Lea Center CEO Dr. Jerry Bernard will join Rachell Johnson to present a session on Person-Centered Planning and Assessment, sharing best practices that empower individuals with disabilities to lead meaningful, self-directed lives.

Also representing the Charles Lea Center is Theresa Robbins, a member of the organization's Board of Directors and an individual who receives services through the Charles Lea Center. Theresa will serve as a panelist during the conference's closing discussion, offering the valuable perspective of a self-advocate and leader whose lived experience helps shape the future of disability services.

"Having both Dr. Bernard and Theresa represent the Charles Lea Center demonstrates our commitment to innovation and to ensuring the voices of people with disabilities are at the center of the conversation. Their participation reflects our belief that the best solutions are developed when professionals and self-advocates work together."

The conference agenda also includes keynote presentations, technology showcases, and sessions focused on remote supports, emerging technologies, and innovative service delivery models.

Tech Wave 2026 is free to attend and open to disability professionals, service providers, family members, self-advocates, educators, and anyone interested in learning about the future of technology and innovation in disability services.
