Summer at the Charles Lea Center is never just a season as it’s a collection of moments that remind us why our community is so special. As we transition into fall, we’re taking a look back at the experiences that brought joy, connection, and pride to the individuals we serve and the staff who support them every single day.
This summer’s story began with creativity and courage on full display at the incredible ChesLea Talent Show. Participants stepped into the spotlight with songs, dances, jokes, and heartfelt performances that filled the room with applause. It wasn’t just a talent show ... it was a celebration of individuality, confidence, and the encouragement that comes from a community cheering you on.
Another chapter unfolded when the Ice Cream Man arrived and not outside, but inside! With an electric wheelchair transformed into a n iice cream truck to roll down our halls, the building lit up with surprise and delight.
Our staff wrote their own meaningful chapters this summer as well. The NC Team BBQ brought colleagues together for food, fellowship, and well‑earned fun. Later, during our Longevity Service Awards, we honored team members whose years of dedication have shaped the CLCL into the supportive, vibrant community it is today. These events weren’t just celebrations as they were reminders of how deeply our staff care, how hard they work, and how committed they are to making every experience the best it can be.
